Question 393114: The sum of 2 numbers is 62. Two times the lesser number is 4 more than the greatest number. What are the numbers?
Answer by checkley79(3341) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
X+Y=62 OR X=62-Y
2X=Y+4
2(62-Y)=Y+4
124-2Y=Y+4
-2Y-Y=4-124
-3Y=-120
Y=-120/-3
Y=40 ANS.
40=62-Y
X=62-40
X=22 ANS.
PROOF:
2*22=40+4
44=44
