Question 372259: Suppose you take 2 1/2h to drive from your house to the lake at 48 mi/h. How long will your return trip take at 40 mi/h? Found 2 solutions by robertb, solver91311:Answer by robertb(5830) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The distance from the house to the lake is (2.5 hr)*(48 mi/hr) = 120 miles. The rerurn trip would take (120 mi)/(40 mi/hr) = 3 hours.
Distance equals rate times time, so the distance to the lake is 2 1/2 hours times 48 miles per hour.
Then, presuming no one moved your house while you were gone, time equals distance divided by rate, in other words, the results of your first calculation divided by 40 mph.
