Hi,
Let x represent the larger number. Then (x-3) would be the smaller.
(x-3)^2 = 4x
x^2 - 6x + 9 = 4x
x^2 -10x + 9 = 0
factoring
(x-9)(x-1) = 0
(x-9)= 0
x = 9
(x-1) = 0
x = 1
Numbers would be 9 and 6 'Or' 1 nd -2
checking our answers
6^2 = 4*9 = 36
(-2)^2 = 4*1 = 4
