2.A pro shop in a bolwing alley drops the price of bowling balls 24% to a sale price of $34.20.What was the former price?
3.An appliacne store drops the price of a certain type of tv 18% to a sale price of $410.What was the former price?

1.) 9x+6 = 10x-2. Then

2.) Let x = former price. Since there was a 24% discount, the sale price of $34.20 is 76% of x, or , or x = $45.
3.) This is similar to #2 above. Since there was a 18% discount, the sale price of $410 is 82% of x, or , or x = $500.
