So "two consecutive integers" means we are working with 2 whole numbers greater than 0 and are right next to each other on the number line.
I would call these numbers X and X+1
So the "larger of the two" is X+1, so that would be first in your equation
The next word is "is" which means equals so,
X+1=
"Six less than"
So you know that the equation ends in -6
"Twice the smaller", well X is smaller so it would be 2X
This means the entire equation is:
X+1=2X-6
Then subtract 2X on both sides to get:
-X+1=-6
Then subtract 1 on both sides to get:
-X=-7
Divide by -1 and so the answer is:
X=7
Then you need to plug it into X+1 to get the other number:
X+1
7+1
8
So your answer would be 7 and 8
