Let the two numbers be x and y

So

If y is 31, then

Is 179 equal to (5*31)+ 24 ???

let x- larger number
y- smaller number
x+y=210
x=5y+24

eliminate x:
x+y=210
- x-5y=24
6y=186
y=31

x+y=210
x+31=210
x=210-31
x=179
therefore:
x=179
y=31
