Let the number of t-shirts be 'n'.

She paid n * $5 for all of them

She sold 12(n - 10).

Profit = sales - cost

Profit = 12(n - 10) - 5n = 1000

12n - 120 - 5n = 1000

7n = 1120

n = 160

So, the number of shirts was 160.
