Let x and y represent the numbers where x=5y
.
2(x+y)=x*y
.
Substitute for x
2(5y + y )= 5y*y
10y + 2y = 5y*y
y= (12/5)
x = 12
.
check your answer
2(12 + (12/5)) = 12*(12/5)
24 + 24/5 = 120/5 + 24/5= 144/5
