Question 34614: One number is 2 more than twice another. If the product of the numbers is 2 more than twice their sum, find the numbers.
Answer by Paul(988)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
One number is 2+2x, another number is x
Equation:
(x)(2+2x)=2+2(x+2+2x)
2x+2x^2=2+6x+4
2x^2-4x-6=0
x^2-2x-3=0
Factor:
x=-1 or x=3
Hence, the number is 3.
