:
A number is added to the sum of 184 tens, 23 hundreds and the least 4-digit odd number.
x + 184(10) + 23(100) + 1001
x + 1840 + 2300 + 1001
x + 5141
:
The result is the greatest four-digit even number.
x + 5141 = 9998
x = 9998 - 5141
x = 4857
