Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let the number be x
5 times the number = 5x
subtract 6 from it
so it will be 5x-6
..
6 times the number = 6x
2 more = 6x+2
5x-6=6x+2
5x-6x=2+6
-x=8
x=-8
