Let the number of peaches be x
Let the number of plums be y
x+y=32
y=32-x (Subsitution)
x+2y=52
Susitutue for y:
x+2(32-x)=52
-x=52-64
x=12
y=32-12
y=20
Hence, there were 20 plums and 12 peahces.
