Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
X=Y-6
2Y+12=4X
REPLACE X WITH (Y-6) IN THE SECOND EQUATION & SOLVE FOR Y.
2Y+12=4(Y-6)
2Y+12=4Y-24
2Y-4Y=-24-12
-2Y=--36
Y=-36/-2
Y=18 ANS.
X=18-6=12 ANS.
PROOF:
2*18+12=4*12
36+12=48
48-48
