Let the smaller number be x
Then the larger number is 5x + 1
Sum of 2 numbers is 103
Equation:
x + 5x + 1 = 103
or, 6x +1 = 103
or, 6x = 103 - 1
or, 6x = 102
or, x = 102/6 (dividing either sides by 6)
or, x = 17
Smaller number = 17
Larger number = 17.5 + 1 = 86
