in an isosceles triangle, each of the congruent sides is two thirds of the base. the perimeter of the triangle is 42. Find the length of each side of the triangle.
---
Let the base be "x"
Each equal side is (2/3)x
----------------------------
Equation:
x + 2(2/3)x = 42
x + (4/3)x = 42
(7/3)x = 42
(1/3)x = 6
x = 18 (base)
(2/3)x = 12 (each equal side)
