if we let x = the number, then we get
x + x + 1 + x + 2 = 3x + 3
we can always divide 3x + 3 by 3 to get x + 1.
not only is the number divisible by 3, but it will always be the middle number in the sequence.
some examples:
1 + 2 + 3 = 6 / 3 = 2
17 + 18 + 19 = 54 / 3 = 18
153 + 154 + 155 = 462 / 3 = 154
