Question 255394: Musicvilee had a sale on 500 assorted cassette tapes. some tapes were sold for $10 while the rest were sold for $8. After all of the tapes were sold, the average price of a tape was $9.50. How many $8 tapes were sold?
Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
10x+8(500-x)=500*9.50
10x+4,000-8x=4,750
2x=4,750-4,000
2x=750
x=750/2
x=375 $10 tapes were sold
500-375=125 $8 tapes were sold.
Proof:
10*375+8*125=4,750
3,750+1,000=4,750
4,750=4.750
