Let x = time it takes to fill the pool with both pipes
then
x(1/12 + 1/28) = 1
x(28 + 12) = 336
x(40) = 336
x = 8.4 hours
Or, in hours and minutes
x = 8 hours and (.4 * 60) minutes
x = 8 hours and 24 minutes
