Hello,
Let's represent x for the number of men. Therefore we can let 3x represent kids and 2x represent women. There's a total of 138 people so we can write an equation.
x + 3x + 2x = 138
Combine like terms:
6x = 138
Divide both sides by 6:
x = 23
Therefore there are 23 Men
69 kids
46 women
This adds up to 138 people. :-)
