Step 2. Let x+13 be the number of movies Jay has.

Step 3. Then, x+x+13=59 since they both have 59 movies.

Step 4. Solving yields the following steps

2x%2B13=59

Subtract 13 from both sides of the equation

2x%2B13-13=59-13

2x=46

Divide 2 to both sides of the equation

2x%2F2=46%2F2
