how do you solve for the two missing numbers? The larger of two numbers is 19 less than 5 times the smaller. The difference of the larger and smaller is 33. find the two numbers.
-----------------------------------
Equations:
Difference: x-y = 33
Quantity:::x = 5y-19
--------------------------
Substitue for x and solve for "y":
5y-19-y = 33
4y = 52
y = 13 (smaller)
Since x - y = 33
x -13 = 33
x = 46 (larger)
