Question 215281: A car is valued at $62,125 if in excellent condition, which is 1 3/4 times as much as a car in very nice condition. What would be the value of the car in very nice condition?
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Excellent condition = 1.75 * Nice Condition
Let E = excellent condition
let N = nice condition
E = 1.75*N
divide both sides of equation by 1.75 to get:
E/1.75 = N
let E = 62125
Equation becomes:
62125/1.75 = N
Simplify to get:
N = $35,500
-----
Nice Condition = $35,500
Excellent Concition = 1.75 * $35,500 = $62,125
-----
1 and 3/4 = 4/4 + 3/4 = 7/4 = 1.75
