by Pythagoras ___ x^2 + (x - 14)^2 = (x + 2)^2

x^2 + x^2 - 28x + 196 = x^2 + 4x + 4

x^2 - 32x + 192 = 0

(x - 24) (x - 8) = 0

since the leg must be longer than 14, x = 24
