Question 185797: a group of children walk to the corner store and buy cans of soda pop for $3.36 and candy bars for atotal of $2.45. Each child has one can of pop and one candy bar. How many children were in the group? what is the cost of one can of soda and one candy bar?
Answer by vleith(2983)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The trick here is to find the prime factors in each total. Since the same number of kids bought soda AND candy, any factor that shows up in both numbers is a candidate. In this case, there is only one factor common to both 336 and 245. So that is the correct number of kids.
Find the prime factors and you're there.
