Find three consecutive even numbers such that the sum of the smallest and twice the second is 20 more than the third.

consecutive even numbers are two numbers apart -- like 2, 4, 6

let x=smallest, so x+2=second and x+4=third

"the sum of the smallest and twice the second is 20 more than the third" __ x + 2(x+2)=20+x+4

3x+4=x+24

subrtacting x+4 __ 2x=20 __ x=10

the numbers are 10, 12, 14
