LET X & X+1 BE THE 2 CONSECUTIVE INTEGERS.
X(X+1)=42
X^2+X-42=0
(X+7)(X-6)=0
X-6=0
X=6 FOR THE SMALLER INTEGER.
6=1=7 FOR THE LARGEST INTEGER.
PROOF:
6*7=42
----------------------------------------
X & X+1
X(X+1)=30
X^2+X-30=0
(X+6)(X-5)=0
X-5=0
X=5 THE SMALLER INTEGER.
5+1=6 FOR THE LARGER INTEGER.
PROOF:
5*6=30
30=30
