You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A sum of $1400 is to be divided between two people in the ratio 3:5. How much does each person recieve?
----------------
3:5 is the same as 3x:5x
EQUATION:
3x+5x = 1400
8x = 1400
x = 175
------------
3x = 525 (amount one person receives)
5x = 875 (amount the other person receives)
