Then a woman entered the store and bought half of the remaining oranges plus three oranges. An old lady then bought half of the remaining oranges plus three oranges. A young man then bought half the remaining oranges plus three oranges. Finally, a boy entered the store and bought the last orange. How many oranges were there originally?

The boy only had 1 orange to buy, so what was left after the young man must have been 1, therefore:
Add 3 to both sides and then multiply by 2:
