K+9+I+9=53
K+9+K-7+9=53=2K+11
2K=42
K=21; I=14
in nine years, they will be 30 and 23.
Kayden is 21 now.

Kayden is 7 years older than Indigo. In 9 years the sum of their ages will be 53. How old is Kayden now?
Let Kayden's age be K
Then Indigo's is: K - 7
We then get: K + K - 7 + 2(9) = 53
                  2K - 7 + 18 = 53
                           2K = 42
