x = hours for company B to do the job alone
x+2 = hours for company A to do the job alone

1/x = fraction of job company B does in 1 hour
1/(x+2) = fraction of job company A does in 1 hour

29 = hours it takes the two companies together to do the job
1/29 = fraction of job the two companies together do in 1 hour.

Solve and round as directed.

Note that the two companies require nearly the same amounts of time to do the job alone. Since it takes them 29 hours to do the job together, it should take each one alone about 58 hours to do the job alone. Since company B works a bit faster, it should take company B very close to 57 hours to do the job alone, and it should take company A very close to 59 hours to do the job alone.
