Let the no be x
8 + 2x = 5x - 10
3x = 18
x = 6
the number is 6

            Since the solution by @Olasko is incorrect,  I came to bring a correct solution,  which is below.


2x + 8 = 5x - 10


8 + 10 = 5x - 2x


18 = 3x


x =  = 6.     ANSWER
