Question 1078421: Which two integers would make each true?
A) the sum of the integers is 23 less than the product
B) the sum of the integers is 28 more than the product
C) the sum of the integers is 73 more than the product

two integers are x and y

a) x + y = xy - 23
0 = xy - x - y - 23
24 = (x-1)(y-1)

x-1=4, y-1=6, so the two integers are 5 and 7

b) x + y = xy -28
0 = xy - x - y - 28
29 = (x-1)(y-1)

x-1=1, y-1=29, so the two integers are 2 and 30

c) x + y = xy - 73
0 = xy - x - y - 73
74 = (x-1)(y-1)

x-1 = 2, y-1 = 39, so the two integers are 3 and 40
