Question 1077767: Your planning a trip to New York and are looking to book a room at the Hilton Times Square. Option A totals $599.98 and option B totals $2,399.94. Option A's rate per night is $100 less than option B. But option B stay is 3 times longer than Option A. You are struggling with choosing either, so you also consider option C. Option C would be a 4 night stay at a nightly rate right in between the rates of option A and B. Find the total cost of trip option C.
Answer by jorel1380(3719) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let n and 3n be the number of nights stayed at A and B, respectively . Then:
(599.98+100n)/n=2399.94/3n
3(599.98+100n)=2399.94
1799.94+300n=2399.94
300n=600
n=2
599.98/2=299.99
Option A is 299.99/night;Option B is 399.99/night. So, option C is 349.99/night. 4 nights @ 349.99/night=$1399.96 as the total cost of C. ☺☺☺☺
