a = 4b
divide both sides by 4 and you have
b = .25a
the third number is 5 more than the first number.
c = a + 5
their sum is 77.
a + b + c = 77
replace b, and c
a + .25a + (a+5) = 77
2.25a = 77 - 5
2.25a = 72
a = 72/2.25
a = 32 is the first number
then
b = .25(32)
b = 8 is the other number
and
c = 32 + 5
c = 37 is the 3rd number
