The difference between a number and it's reciprocal is 7/12. Find the number.
----------------------
EQUATION
x - 1/x = 7/12
Multiply thru by 12x
12x^2 -12 = 7x
12x^2 -7x -12 = 0
x = [7 +- sqrt(625)]/24
x = [7 +- 25]/24
x = 32/24 = 4/3 or x = -3/4
