Answer by macston(5194) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
F=first number; S=second number
.
F+S=5
S=5-F
.
2F+S=2
2F+(5-F)=2
F+5=2
F=-3
.
S=5-F=5-(-3)=8
.
ANSWER: The first number is -3 and the second is 8.
.
CHECK:
2F+S=2
2(-3)+8=2
-6+8=2
2=2
