Question 59519: The word problem is how to solve if I am given to mixtures with each mixture costing a different amount per pound.
At first I came up with these equations...
rice x 2.75/lb. + peas x $1.25/lb. = rice and peas x $1.75/lb.
I then tried to solve for R (rice).
which left me with R@$2.75/lb. = P&R@$1.75/lb. - P@$1.25/lb.
that's where I'm stuck...
I think if I divide out the rice variable I'll be left with fractions all over the place. What step am I leaving out?
