Question 283484: I have been looking over mixture problems, and am quite comfortable solving 2 ingredient formulas, but I do not know the procedure if there are MORE than 2 ingredients.
Example:
- Candy A costs $2.00 lb & sells for $2.75
- Candy B costs $3.25 lb & sells for $4.95
- Candy C costs $2.25 lb & sells for $3.50
- Candy D costs $1.00 lb & sells for $1.50
Create a mixture using all 4 candies that will sell for $3.95 while maximizing profits.

2.) Brianna has 2 pounds of brand 176 nuts that sell for $3 a pound. She also has brand 391 nuts that sell for $1.74 a pound. If she wants a mixture of nuts that sell for $2.58 a pound, how many pounds of brand 391 should she add?
How do you come to that conclusion?
