A 30% solution of fertilizer is to be mixed with a 70% solution of fertilizer in order to get 100 gallons of a 60% solution. How many gallons of the 30% solution and 70% should be fixed?

fertil + fertil = fertil
-------
0.30x + 0.70(100-x) = 0.60*100
-------
30x + 70*100 - 70x = 60*100
------
-40x = -10*100
x = (1/4)*100
x = 25 gallons (amt. of 30% solution needed)

100-x = 75 gallons (amt. of 70% solution needed)
