Question 972683: How many liters of a 6% solution of salt should be added to a 23% solution in order to obtain 833 liters of a 14% solution
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x=how much of 6%
833-x= how much of 23%
833*.14= .06x + .23(833-x) units here are liters-salt
116.62=.06x + 191.59-.23x
subtract 191.59 from both sides
-74.97=-.17x
divide both sides by -0.17
441 liters of 6% or 26.46 liters-salt
392 liters of 23% or 90.16
Sum is 833 liters of .14 = 116.62
The answer is 441 liters of the 6% solution
