A chemist has 6% and 15% solutions of sulfuric acid. How much of each solution should she mix to get 10 liters of a 9% solution?

This can be done using a single variable.

Let v be the volume of the 6% acid, and then 10-v is the volume of the 15% acid.

Solve for v, and then compute 10-v.

P = amount of pure (100%)

T + P = 48 (total liquid)
