Question 968752: I need help with a word problem, i tried working it out but it doesn't seem to work: One litre of fruit juice contains 60 grams of sugar. How many millilitres of fruit juice contain 1.5 grams of sugar?

1 litre = 1000 ml
60 / 1000 = 1.5 / x
cross multiply fractions
60x = 1500
x = 25
therefore
25 ml contains 1.5 grams of sugar

Set up a ratio
First convert liter to ml
Let = ml of fruit juice
-------------------------
This is OK because you have:
[ ml ] / [ grams ] = [ ml ] / [ grams ]

Multiply both sides by
25 ml of fruit juice contain 1.5 g of sugar
