Question 966894: A ball is thrown vertically upward. After t seconds, its height h(in feet) is given by the function h(t)=84t-16t^2. What is the maximum height that the ball will reach?
Answer by amarjeeth123(569) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
h(t)=84t-16t^2
Velocity v(t)=dh/dt=84-32t
At the maximum point v(t)=0
dh/dt=84-32t=0
84-32t=0
32t=84
t=84/32=2.625 sec
H(max)=84(2.625)-16(2.625)^2=220.5-110.25=110.25 feet.
Maximum height that the ball will reach is 110.25 feet.
