Question 96415: PLEASE HELP!!! I have an assignment due and I am having problems; can you please explain the below for me?
How would you explain square roots, cube roots, nth roots, and radicals to a student who is having difficulty understanding these concepts? What are some limitations of square root?

Answer by sbates(1)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The square root is when there are two equal numbers that can be multiplied together still gives that number. An example of this is the number 25; when multiplied 5*5 or –5*-5, the square root is 5.
Cube roots are made of three equal numbers when multiplied together; this example would be 2*2*2 = 8. This means that 2 is the cube root of 8.

The nth roots are multiplied together; this example is the 10th roots of 1024 are 2 and -2

The radical refers to a square root and can be written like x
The difficulty of a square root is you cannot take the square root of a negative number.
