How many liters of a 20% acid solution should be added to 10 liters of a 30% acid solution to obtain a 25% acid solution?
-----
Equation:
acid + acid = acid
0.20x + 0.30*10 = 0.25(x+10)
------
Multiply thru by 100 to get::
20x + 30*10 = 25x + 25*10
5x = 5*10
x = 10 liters (amt of 20% solution needed)
