100 L of water contains 40% salt.
How much water should be added to make it a 30% solution of salt?
:
let w = amt of water required to do this
.40(100) = .30(w+100)
40 = .3w + 30
40 - 30 = .3w
10 = .3w
w = 10/.3
w = 33 L of water
