I see a major fault in the problem description. You are examining how to mix $2.20 per kg with $1.80 per kg and result in a price of mixture at $3.00 per kg. NOT POSSIBLE. Neither material to be mixed is as high priced as the intended mixture. $3.00 per kg is NOT in range of 2.20 to 1.80.

Recheck your problem description from your learning material carefully.

....Again, understand, the problem description is WRONG.

Let amount of chocolate, be C, and amount of other candy, V
Then: C + V = 15 ------- C = 15 – V ------- eq (i)
Also, C(1.8) + V(3) = 15(2.2)_____1.8C + 3V = 33 ------ eq (ii)
1.8(15 – V) + 3V = 33 ------- Substituting 15 – V for C in eq (ii)
27 – 1.8V + 3V = 33
– 1.8V + 3V = 33 – 27
1.2V = 6
V, or amount of other candy in 15 kg mixture = , or kg
C = 15 – 5 ------- Substitute 5 for V in eq (i)
C, or amount of chocolate in 15 kg mixture = kg
You can do the check!!
