Question 905596: Jenny wants to make 13 qt. of a 59% solution by mixing together a 53% acid solution and a 69% acid solution. How much of each solution must she use?
Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a+b=13,
0.53*a+0.69*b=0.59*13
a=13-b
0.53*(13-b)+0.69*b=7.67
6.89-0.53b+0.69*b=7.67
0.16*b=0.78
b=4.875
a=13-b
a=8.125 qt. at 53% b=4.875 qt. at 69%
check
0.53*8.125+0.69*4.875=0.59*13
4.30625+3.36375=7.67
7.67=7.67
ok
