6 million people watch the 30 second commercial

the cost of the commercial was about $300,000.

the cellular phone manufacturer makes a profit of $10.00 on every phone sold.

$300,000 / $10.00 = 30,000 cell phones that would have to be sold.

30,000 / 6,000,000 is equal to .005 which is equal to 0.5%.

0.5% of 6,000,000 = 30,000 * $10.00 = $300,000

They will recover the cost of the commercial if one half of one percent of the 6,000,000 viewers buy a cell phone from them because of the commercial.
