Question 892560: The ratio of copper to zinc in a certain alloy is 3 to 2. If 66 grams of copper are used, how many grams of since are needed to make this alloy?
Answer by LinnW(1048) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
where x is grams of zinc
Do cross products
3*x + 2*66
3x = 132
divide each side by 3
x = 44 grams of zinc
Since the weight of the alloy is the total of the copper plus the zinc,
66 + 44 = 110 grams for the alloy
